I can definitely confirm this with FedEx.
Without naming specifics, I'm very well acquainted with their operations.

Reference FedEx, you ever hear of drivers signing required signature deliveries themselves, and leaving the package? (Hopefully still on topic because it's a FedEx delivery driver)
This was a pain in the ass!

I couldn't handle waiting around for a signature for alcohol, so I always dropped it off and signed "c. 19" during covid. Never had it questioned once. There are a few times I misjudgingly believed someone was 21, but couldn't procure their ID, including a time I didn't want to haul their 4 cases of red wine back down the 4 flights of stairs so I left it.
Covid restrictions lifted and for a brief time we were required to scan people's ID. That raised a lot of red flags for customers and wasted a bunch of drivers time, and recently I noticed that requirement is gone.
I still sign for customers with "c. 19" and haven't had any questions pop up. I've done it daily for several years now. So either nobody out there is filing claims, I'm amazing (doubtful) , or fedex doesn't care. 🤷♂️
