use water but to answer your question there is a big difference between the quality of cheap vs expensive toilet paper

I just get Costco Kirkland toilet paper.... I actually hate the expensive toilet paper that is super thick and kind of sheds leaving a paper dust on everything it touched.

bidet is the way to go imo, however some soft paper can really help
