Xbox PS3 Wii so may consoles whats the difference #1
One of the biggest components of gaming is the gaming system. Let's face it, without the console, there would be no gaming. But with so many different consoles out there, what gaming system is the best?

Throughout gaming history, there has always been multiple game systems around--made by different countries, companies, or programmers. Then, games were made specifically for each console that you could not find on another. This made it hard for those who didn't own more than one system.

Not much has changed today.

In the current market, there are three systems that are really competing against each other; the PlayStation 3, Wii, and Xbox 360.

What makes a PlayStation 3 any better than an Xbox 360 or vice versa? Some say the graphics, others say the way the games handle, and others simply prefer one company over another.

Quite simply, it all comes down to personal preference. Each current top of the line system in the market today has similar attributes that make it harder for consumers to choose between them. The Wii, for example, from Nintendo, was the first system to use motion sensory game equipment. In order to continue competing with the Wii, both Sony's PlayStation 3 and Microsoft's Xbox 360 created their own motion sensory equipment and games to go along with their systems: PlayStation Move and Xbox Kinect.

Another important factor in deciding which console to buy depends on the audience that is purchasing it. If the console being purchased is for a child, the more popular systems include the Wii or the Nintendo DS not only because they are user friendly but because a lot of the games produced for these systems are geared towards children.

Toptenreviews.com has a 2012 Best Video Game Console Comparisons and Review where, at a glance, they have reviewed the different video game consoles in the market today--comparing the different features each system has and rating them accordingly.

In the end, it comes down to the types of games that are coming out, what systems they come out for, and who is playing them. Some gamers, who play a lot of different games, may own every system. Yet there are also some gamers who will never own more than one console.

Console specific games exist in every system. If they didn't, there would be no competition between the different companies who are trying to capitalize on their products. It forces gamers who want to play certain games to purchase the system it was made for or not be able to play it at all.

Without console exclusivity, one of the biggest reasons why people choose between the different systems would disappear, and the different consoles--if there even would be different consoles at that point--would be competing based on hardware alone.

It may be hard to choose between the different consoles now, but just wait. The future of game consoles is not over. As technological advances are made over time, the top competing companies will create newer, faster, better systems and the cycle will start all over again
