So I figure I'll take a crack at a tutorial, maybe it will help someone, its my first
Things you will need:
• your old Xbox 360 (if you don't have one you will need to get one, they're cheap through craigslist)
• your eBay account and paypal
• money to front for an xbox one
Firstly, this tutorial focuses on eBay's bias toward the buyer. If you open an eBay case, and contact customer support, they will almost always side with the buyer. Unless the seller has very definitive proof they are right. They want to make money, and can only do so when people continue to buy, so the buyer MUST always be satisfied, even at the expense of a seller.
(I learned this the hard way when I sold a car on eBay)
1. Get on eBay and go pick an Xbox One, be sure not to buy from a power seller, or someone with 100% feedback and high rating. An average seller who you can assume has made mistakes and bad transactions before. for best results.
2. Pay for the item like normal and patiently await for it to arrive.
3. Once the xbox one arrives, contact the buyer claiming there must have been a mistake because "you have received an xbox 360 console and not an xbox one as described." and request he send you an xbox one.
4. The seller will surely refuse and defend himself saying he has sent you an xbox one. Now you may open an eBay case against him through eBay buyer protection. Be sure to stick to your story that you were shipped an xbox 360 inside an xbox one box.
5. Soon the seller will respond to the case as required, and defend himself more. At this point you can continue to message back and fourth until the buyer (you) can escalate the claim to a eBay customer support representative. At this point, you have a few options.
You could stay with text written emails alone and convince the customer rep you are right (which is likely, as most cases are simply finalized in under 5 minutes after a customer rep reviews it, because the rep has many more than just yours to deal with)
You can place your xbox 360 inside the xbox one box and send a picture to the customer rep for added evidence
or you can even call up customer support, and plead your story to them directly (which may be the most effective method)
6. Once the claim is finalized, you will have either won or lost.
If you won, box up your xbox 360 and ship it back to the seller of the xbox one. the case will be closed and you will get your refund within 3 days after delivery is confirmed. Congratulations, you just saved some cash!
If you lost, you now have an xbox one, and can keep it or sell it for the money you spent on it.
