Would this work? Se a MacBook. #1
I found a seller on Amazon and contacted Amazon staff with this message

”Hello My name is @@@@ and I live in @@@@ and I visited a friend in London last year who is studying in London. Me and friends bought him an Apple MacBook as a gift. My luggage was lost in Heathrow including the laptop. I reported the lost luggage to the security at Heathrow. They couldnt find it and has been lost ever since. After months of searching EBay, Craigslist and countless other sites I found the laptop here on Amazon. Its the same Laptop with matching serial number and is still sealed exactly as it was when I lost it at Heathrow. My question is now what should I do? I have reported it to the @@@@ police but they was not very helpful and closed the investigation in one day.”

What can I expect from this? Nothing or a free Macbook?

I wouldn't suggest this.

You don't know what's gonna happen plus they aren't just gonna contact the seller and be like "that's stolen, ship it out". The seller will of course fight it because it's not stolen.. Expect a long ass investigation + questions.

Just SE Dell/HP and get an advanced replacement. You aren't tricking Amazon that you owned a laptop without proof.

But if I show them a receipt with the serial and my fake name and address?

Go for it, maybe. But again, there would be a lot of questions and a investigation.

Quote:I have reported it to the @@@@ police but they was not very helpful and closed the investigation in one day.”

At the minimum, they'd most likely request a copy of the police report and an Investigation opened thereafter.

Have you received a response?

No I havent got any response yet. I don’t know how to take the next step. It seems a bit to risky to continue with this.

Your next step (If any), Is based on their response.

When SEing, It's not good practice to over-analyze It. This can unnecessarily complicate matters and cloud one's judgement. Wait for their reply. Should It work In your favor, you have nothing to lose and everything to gain.
