Please help. I have been trying to backup my dad's docs on his old PC and transfer them to his new PC but nothing works! Dropbox doesn't work on XP, Crashplan doesn't either. I tried using my external hard drive, but it only shows up in the manager, nowhere else. It's also not compatible with XP. I tried to do an upgrade, nope, doesn't work either. The setup files keep saying not valid file or whatever. I need help! This thing's been such a waste of time

LOL, get a LAN cable, connect the two.
- Download Dukto and install on both machines.
- Open up Dukto.
- And now just drag the files to the Dukto application and let it do its magic.

You could use google drive since there is nothing to install, just upload them from the old pc and download them onto the new one.
Once your finished moving everything don't throw away the old one as it still has many more uses.

But DUkto doesn't require any network connection involving internet for the transfer. Go here to download it.

Open it, drag and drops files to send from PC to PC on the network, no need for internet access. NOTE: Needs to be opened on both computers.

Also works with linux, there is linux version of it.

In the event you're still experiencing the above Issue, your external HDD Is In fact fully functional with the OS Itself. In this case, either the driver has failed to Install "properly", so uninstall It via Device Manager, reboot, plug In your external and allow the HDD to Install the driver thereafter. Alternatively, In Device Manager, right click the external HDD and select "Change Driver Letter and Paths". Assigning a new drive letter will allow the device to be actively available/accessible In Windows Explorer (My Computer).
