Not totally new to this, I also have an aged Amazon account with thousand of Euros of legit purchases per year.
I'm planning to see a small item from a well known brand.

Just have to decide between a 200€ item and a 550€ one.

My method: I've already acquired a very similar item (which is much cheaper) from the same brand but from another eshop.
The plan is to just call amazon and tell them that I got the wrong thing in the right box.
So I won't be sending back the box from the different eshop.

My only problem: I absolutely won't do a PR, already did something similar in the past (not on Amazon) and don't want to push my luck.

My question is:
How likely is that they will ask me to file a PR for the 200€? And how likely is it for the 550€ item?

Why are you do against a PR may I ask?

No PR because it's a small town. Everybody knows everybody and I don't want to risk them remembering last time I did this, even if it was years ago.

Besides, it can take the best part of the day to do a PR here and my wife would kill me if I disappear for all that time.

Understood. In my experience it depends on the rep you're talking to.
If I remember correctly, @mothered was asked to fill a PR for a 50$ item once.

Would pretending that the phone signal was bad and hanging up work?
I mean, I did something similar once with the broken glass method, keep calling until one of them decided to refund me.

A PR might only be needed to proceed forward with the claim, hence avoiding it by simple hanging up and talking to another rep migt not work.

Also the PR might only be needed if the rep thinks that some kind of fraud is the case (e.g when doing EB). Since you're just swapping out the item and claiming that it arrived like this might shrink the chance of being asked to fill out a PR a little bit.

It's a wristwatch. The 200€ one is around 60-70 grams, the 550€ is around 140-150 grams.
Cheap one I bought from elsewhere is 60-70 grams. Same brand, new.
Actually, the same seller on Amazon has both the 200€ item I want and the cheap one I wanted to send back in their inventory.

The method does work, however you need to take policy changes Into account that may affect Its effectiveness - of which Amazon has recently Implemented Into Its returns management.

So you believe I shouldn't attempt this at all? 

For the reasons mentioned In my previous post, I'd disregard It altogether.

Than you very much for the info, I'm now getting informed on how to acquire an amazon item from an account not linked to me.
We don't have privacy c*rds here unfortunately.

I think I did something completely different (leaking battery) about one year ago and then nothing.
My last EB/PEB was years ago, maybe on a different account too.
