Right now I'm learning Rust and plan on doing something fairly big (stay tuned) and I'm thinking of picking up either something ancient (like an early derivative of the A-0 System or ALGOL 60), or finally learning what I don't yet know about regex and tying that into sed and awk.

What have you guys got on your programming plates? Anything esoteric, weird, or otherwise interesting and noteworthy?

I am learning java for the moment, until I feel comfortable with it .

I'm so happy that I finally decided to get off my ass and learn C and C++. They're not easy languages by any means, but it's helped me learn way more much faster.

I am currently using <enki> (mobile app) to better my skills at JavaScript, PHP, and C++

I was doing git but the devs had to remove it for legal reasons.

I'm deciding on weather to learn Go or Lua or both, I'll go with both.

All I really need to do is get a feel for a language and I can pretty much do anything with { it + a search engine } (not including brainfuck or shit like that...).

I'm not learning anything at the moment, but I'm going to start either Javascript, C, or C++ most likely pretty soon.

If those are your prospects, I think you should do browser-side js, then node js, then c and c++. Fun fact, if you dig around the V8 JavaScript engine documentation and get the hang of it, you can write Node bindings for C and C++, which is pretty cool.

Thanks for your input. The only thing that was steering me away from Javascript is I'm not sure web development would help me in the future as much as C or C++. And yes, bindings are a great feature. Although since most of the languages I know enough about also have bindings, I didn't realize it was such a unique feature.

Scala and Ruby are the new languages I'm learning at the moment. Learning for classes I'm taking, I doubt I would use Scala outside of this class.

Ruby was my first legit language, and I still play around with it now and then because there's so many ways to do things and so much syntactic sugar. As for Scala, it's better than Java, but not by much.
