What I'd like to see in 2013 for gaming 02-17-2013, 02:34 AM

With 2013 now underway, there are a few things I’d really like to see the gaming world do to make the year the best one to date for video games. While some of these may not be realistic, they are my personal opinion and should NOT be taken as news, facts, or anything else.
The first thing I’d like to see is an emphasis on smartphone gaming. Sure, we have Angry Birds and a few other popular titles, but there are only a few games out there that really push the envelope. Infinity Blade was a great start, and I love seeing a few major titles being ported over like Grand Theft Auto, but I want MORE! Perhaps it is just because I got the Droid DNA for Christmas, or maybe it’s because I am desperate for some good games to play on the go, but I’d really love to see some good games getting the proper treatment on Android and iOS. It’s also worth noting that I’d like more of these games to be free, but we all know that’s not going to happen.
Another thing I’d like to see, quite simply, is for the Wii U to succeed. I’m not talking about in the “market” so to say, but rather for it to become a legitimate console for gamers. I know the competition is stiff with the Ouya, Steambox, “PS4,” and “Xbox 720” all coming out this year (allegedly). I think really all they need to do is get more titles that are placed on the other consoles. This may be a technical issue, I have no idea, but even if it cannot be a hardcore gamers console, it should at least use its technology as well as the Wii did.
The last thing I’d like to see is an emphasis on dedicated servers for console games. I look at how a huge game like Battlefield 3 did it, and I think that if other multiplayer games (not necessarily COD) adopt this system, regardless of the cost, we would be one step closer to competing with PC’s. There isn’t really anything wrong with the current system, but I’d like to see a more stable gaming experience now that we’ve exhausted the current host system.
What do you guys want to see in 2013?
