For an idea I'm working on I want to create a website that is similar to :

www.nextdoor.co.uk

Basically it's a bit like a forum for people in your local area etc... You might need to check it out to understand what I'm on about. But basically I'm creating something like this but for jobs. Wondering what's the best way to do it? : myBB , wordpress , html? Would appreciate any insight.

If you're going for a forum I'd make it in myBB. But if you want to make a landing page like with the site you're mentioning, try something else because I'm not sure myBB can do that. Only the actual forum.

That's fine I'm not too bothered about a landing page. Was just wondering if myBB could display it in the format the other site is in.

I can always help with setting up myBB because I learned how to do it about a week ago.

Oh thanks , I might have to take you up on that. I'm hoping to run it off of localhost until I get everything set up. I've done some research and myBB looks like it can work well. I'm assuming i'm ok to PM if I need help (gonna take a proper look at things this weekend).

I've only done it with 000webhost. I'm not sure about localhost. But I'll still be able to help you out.

Running on localhost is a bad idea unless you fully understand security practices and are hosting on Centos or Ubuntu. Preferably Centos. For developmental purposes you can run your site on localhost on windows/mac.

yes, you can edit the mybb template files to look like any other website, its just html

Thanks for the help everyone, I will update this post as the website progresses incase anyone is interested.

I plan on developing off localhost but then obvious using a proper host when the website goes live.
