Virus Detected message on Google Chrome #1
Hi Guys,
I am currently trying to download a sneaker bot from a very trustworthy source. I have been sent a download link but I every time I click it the file download to 14mb/14mb then it says “Failed- Virus Detected”.

I was told that this may happen and that I should temporarily disable my anti virus software. I have done that however it is still not downloading.

I know the file is legit I just need to know how to override this for this one file. Does anyone know how I can do this? I am using windows 7 and my browser is google chrome. I also have a vpn on and I am browsing incognito,

Use another browser like internet explorer or if it's a direct link just use wget or something similar.
~~ Might be back? ~~

Don't bother using a browser if it's a direct link. Use something like wget or cURL. These programs don't contain any sort of virus checking and are really great for just downloading a single file without any overhead. Of course, you could also be one of those weird guys that maintains that rsync is superior, but any of those three will work for you.

I get these Issues on a daily basis, namely when downloading and testing tools via this board.

Private browsing Is Immaterial to your Issue. It's simply privacy "within" your browser, that Is, It does not store Info, cookies (cookies are deleted when you close your browser session), discards your browsing history, acts as an Isolated browser session and so forth. It does not anonymize you online, nor prevent keyloggers etc from logging your activity. Beyond your browser, your activity Is a per normal and you're still tracked.
That said, It can still access previously-stored history and saved passwords that were (previously) generated via normal browsing.

As mentioned by @Bish0pQ, use an alternate browser and disable all security settings/features within the browser Itself. Also (where applicable), disable the SmartScreen Filter and obviously every security real-time detection software.

There are builds of curl and wget for Windows; the former may be found here: https://curl.haxx.se/download.html

I do have a few questions though. The first of which, is, why are you using an outdated version of Windows? If you must use Windows, you should probably be using the latest version of Windows 10. My second question, is why are you using Windows at all? There are good answers to this question, so I'll refrain from going on a rant here until I hear your amswer. Third, and last, why are you using Chrome in incognito with a VPN. Two of those things are probably watching you, and Firefox generally has better performance than Chrome. Also Firefox isn't owned by Google.

In terms of using another OS, further to @"Ender"'s post above, you can Install a completely different OS (Linux or otherwise) on a VM and use It's native browser to download the file.

The setup and Installation of a VM, Including the operating system, should not take more than an hour. And that's ample time. Also, have you tried downloading via an IDM (Internet Download Manager)?

Thanks for all the posts guys. i've managed to download the link by downloading it on to a windows vista laptop and transferring it via usb i will bear all this in mind whenever i have the same problem.

I am using windows 7 as this is the windows my machine has. I'm not the most techy guy im still learning a lot hence why I post asking questions on here. I'm trying to raise funds to get a new laptop so I can start afresh.

I've had issues firing up a VM due to not being able to get a windows iso from microsoft.

Id advise using a virtual machine whenever possible to test things you download from the internet. If you're using Windows 7, there is "Windows XP Mode" , which is an actual virtual machine using Hyper-V. https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download...px?id=8002

If I were you, I would download it in a virtual machine. I always test my software out in there
