Virtual Reality #1
Anyone have a VR headset or anything and are looking forward to a lot of the VR things coming out on steam? VR has been out for awhile but only just now games and experiments are starting to come out that aren't just little tests. some are really looking interesting. gaming is taking a huge leap this generation, i cant wait to see what comes out.

I got a chance at a Hackathon recently to try out the Oculus, and Samsungs VR( Forget the name).

It was really awesome! If i were to recomend to get one, get one with triangulation/positional tracking, because the shitty ones who don't (like Samsungs VR) take you out of it. Doesn't "feel" as real as the Oculus does.

I was also able to write a small simple demo app with the Oculus and Leap Motion, and it's really not as difficult as some would imagine (although if you get into some crazy shit it gets much, much more difficult.

I really hope to get an oculus some day, but er, they kind of expensive for what you get atm.

I have the HTC Vive, it is to my knowledge the better (and more expensive) one you can. It's amazing though, you legit forget you aren't in the game sometimes, depending on how realistic they tried to make it. I can say I've hit my walls a few times, lol. Tongue

I haven't used them TBH, but they look like shit. At least the ones on the market ATM. Kind of like when the Wii was hyped up, and it wasn't anywhere near what people expected it to be. What lacks is the graphics, and yeah I know, graphics don't matter in games. But this is virtual reality, where independence and game content severely lacks in replacement for a personal experience where graphics could really enhance and make up for it. And then the whole floating hands things further separating the realism.

Personally, I'm looking forward to interactive movies via VR headsets.

I think I would genuinely pay to see someone I know walk headfirst into a wall with one of those on xD

In all seriousness, that's awesome that you have it! Would love to try something like that one day!

Honestly you really don't even notice, even if its not really good graphics and with the floating hands. your brain learns to adapt to it really quickly to the point where it seems perfectly natural.
