They specifically state that it is on the customer to check the package before signing for it, and either not accept it if something is missing/damaged, or if you sign for it anyway, you accept liability by doing so.

"8.2. Any anomalies identified at the time of delivery, including, without limitation, any tampering or damage to the packaging, damage to the Products, missing items, non-conformity to the Products ordered, defective Products, etc. (hereinafter “Defects”), can be indicated by You directly to the Courier or to Versace immediately upon delivery. In such circumstance You will not be required to accept the Products and may return them directly to the Courier."

As well as

Versace insures all items against theft and accidental damage whilst in transit until it is delivered to the shipping address. Once your items have been delivered to the specified delivery address and signed for, they are no longer covered by insurance.

I would almost guarantee that they check over things very carefully before shipping, as well, but it seems that they don't leave much room for you to claim they didn't either way.

If the glasses are sold anywhere else, I would probably opt to try another shop first. There are some items I want to attempt that are only available via Versace direct, but given their pretty stiff policy, it's something I'm going to wait on until I have time to potentially have to battle it out.
I see. Having said that, I would like to tell you that a company's sales conditions and its ability to handle a problem can be very different. To my recollection, Levi's stated almost the same thing in their T&C's but they handled refunds well and were pretty straightforward.

I think you would benefit from trying it, try a DNA and if it really doesn't work, return the product normally.

Luxury brands are sometimes easier to hit since their image is more important than other companies, and especially a lot less customers do SE. Your case will likely be taken very seriously, which could lead to a fairly simple refund.

I am very aware that TOS can differ from how a company handles DNAs - in fact, I have personally commented a few times on the forum about Levi's in particular, for this very reason, after experiencing how easy they are to DNA over the last few years - but it is still a good glimpse into their policies.
Typically when a company specifically outlines their actual package insurance policy and coverage, you can almost guarantee they will be difficult to deal with should you claim a DNA, because they have established a protocol to deal with these things, and consider their packages to be "insured" until liability is handed over to you.
A company that enforces signatures on every delivery, expects you to inspect a package before signing - because your signature signs over liability to you if something is missing from the package - and does not allow for signature authorization to be waived with the carrier - meaning it has to be direct signature, in some cases with matching ID - is not a company that is typically going to be as easy as writing and getting a response back of, "Okay, we're so sorry, can we offer you a reshipment or a refund?"

Typically, a company like this will absolutely open a carrier investigation - which not everyone wants to deal with, especially when that carrier is DHL - and it will 100% be a long, uphill battle to get a refund out of them.
When you factor in the cost of the items - there wasn't a single item I wanted to SE from them that wasn't at least $850+ - and the hassle - shipping from out of country, potential import fees, return shipping times and cost if you fail, potentially not having enough time to wait for the outcome of an investigation because the return window will close - it becomes very unappealing to take a "risk" on a company that has done a thorough job outlining their parcel insurance and liability policies. Whereas say Levi's, shipping domestically, is a much different story - much lower risk, and less hassle if you fail.

Like I said, I may still try them eventually, but I don't really feel like having $1,500 out of pocket for potentially weeks/months on a single order right now, so based on my research, I have decided to wait until I'm feel more inclined to take the risk.
A company may very well describe these delivery or signature situations, but that still doesn't mean they won't process your request. If they claim that once signed the risk of loss is transferred to you, a false signature will save you from any problems. Since their terms and conditions claim that YOU must sign for the package to be in your charge, if someone you don't know signs it, it means nothing. Likewise, when you order a pair of glasses and you claim to be EB, how is the customer supposed to know how much the package weighs and if they think something is missing from the package. First of all, this is impossible, the packages can be more or less heavy depending on the packaging, and then the packages can sometimes be damaged due to transport, if each customer refused any damaged package I let you imagine the situation. Sometimes, a company bluffs on the terms and conditions to make fear.

To do this, you have to try, the real failure would be not to try.
