VPS to bypass captive portal

Hello

Sorry if this is a wrong section,

I was wondering is it possible, to use a VPS to bypass captive portals?
I am looking to connect my VPS back at home, even when not paying for the wifi on plane. (I fly with Virgin Atlantic)
And probably bypass my school's captive portal. As previously, I have aircrack-ng'ed the admins wifi. Which they have now disabled.
I am wondering whether or not a tunnel to my VPS will be able to bypass which.
