but I saw a post where someone failed a FTID on Amazon; his account was banned, and received a letter basically stating that they found his empty parcel & discovered the attempted FTID.

This Is a prime example of why I keep mentioning to not use the FTID garbage.

You're basically executing It, and hoping that those who're handling the shipment are brain-dead.
