how can you say impossible , you must check

Are you suggesting that I actively monitor every movement on this board without sleep, 24/7?

I think he's pressing the point of using a plug-in. He's essentially saying, if we staff can't keep on top of it, we need the plug-in.

Keep in mind, this is not a section that SL is particularly invested in, and we have questioned its place on our board.

@fsociety We understand your concerns, and we will look into solutions. However, a plug-in is not ideal for us. Other sites may use them, but we are SL and not them. We've offered our explanations for why we don't want to add yet another plug-in to the forum. We are not going to ignore this suggestion, but please bear with us while we come to a solution that works for us. In the meantime, please report any shortlinks that you find from now on, while we make our decisions. This board isn't run by overlords - We're a community, and the community is every bit a part of making SL the great place it is.

We ALWAYS check reports (special thanks to Mothered for being so quick with those), and take action on them as necessary.

I put my point now it depend on you and the team , do or not doesn't matter to me at all. many thing are missing like hide to reply that is also not implemented... what to say ... now...sinister is lacking behind alot that i notice , nothing more to say... topic end here.

Well, you've brought the topic up, and discussed it at length with us, so of course it does matter to you. And that is perfectly ok. It matters to us too.

What do you mean by lacking behind? Please PM me with your response to this. I ask for a PM, as I think you're right - For now we've said what needs to be said on this particular thread topic, but I would like to know why you feel we are lacking behind, and in what way. I believe that would be best discussed in private for now.

Thank you. I'd like to talk more. Our members feelings about the board matter to me.

I don't think thats a good idea. The reason being that it allows people to gain a bit of money from their work (if they've actually did the work). Even if shortlinks are very disliked, they still help the person that gave the work to gain a bit of money from their effort. However reputable websites should be used and not dodgy counterparts.

I personally don't use shortlinks however ive thought about it before, i would most likely use something like adfly if i really wanted to, but right now, im still staying with direct-links, most people prefer quick & easy direct links instead of having a whole new tab opening, doing a captcha etc...

I think that if you gave the effort, then you should be allowed to monetise your content, you can choose to do so or not. However, it would be really nice to make it in a way that the user doesn't get bored or spammed of annoying ads while waiting.

PS: People that steal content and monetise it are just lazy people that don't really care about the quality of their content until they're gaining money from it & that it gets views

It's not that we can't add a "hide until reply" feature, it's that we've determined it might not be in the interest of the site. Generally forums with that feature are plagued with "thank you for this thread"-type posts. Let there be no confusion, we don't want to be like those forums.

Our staff team handles reports 24/7 and there is almost always someone on. If your issue is shortlinks, you're capable of reporting the threads. This doesn't mean we'll never use a plugin to filter shortlinks, but it isn't currently on the agenda.

Revisiting this issue, we might make the Cracking sections for Upgraded members only.
