Here's a nice conversation in that IRC that shows how l337 is the server owner:
Code:
* ShebangBot (~ShebangBot@d24-150-81-84.home.cgocable.net) has joined #sl
<Shebang> ooh, yay
* ShebangBot has quit (Client closed connection)
* ShebangBot (~ShebangBot@d24-150-81-84.home.cgocable.net) has joined #sl
<Shebang> :)
* ShebangBot has quit (Client closed connection)
<phyrrus9> well that was fast
* ShebangBot (~ShebangBot@d24-150-81-84.home.cgocable.net) has joined #sl
* ShebangBot has quit (Client closed connection)
* ShebangBot (~ShebangBot@d24-150-81-84.home.cgocable.net) has joined #sl
<Shebang> it's not too difficult, apparently
<phyrrus9> its really not....
<phyrrus9> its responding to all the PING
<Shebang> Now let's see if it can do anything..
<phyrrus9> and getting the inital user mode correct thats the issue
<Shebang> +say Hello!
<ShebangBot> Hello!
<phyrrus9> see, now I know you didn't write it yourself
<Shebang> Because that was the first thing I put in?
* ShebangBot has quit (Client closed connection)
<phyrrus9> i mean, its possible, but I HIGHLY doubt you're that good at IRC
<dotcppfile> well
<dotcppfile> you can write an irc bot in python
<dotcppfile> in 5 lines of codes
<dotcppfile> well
<phyrrus9> has anyone here actually used real IRC?
<dotcppfile> that would say hello.
<phyrrus9> something to say hello in a channel would look like this:
<phyrrus9> NICK mybot
<phyrrus9> USER mybot 8 * : test bot
<phyrrus9> JOIN #SL
<phyrrus9> PRIVMSG #SL : hello
<phyrrus9> PART #SL
<dotcppfile> in python
<dotcppfile> import socket
* ShebangBot (~ShebangBot@d24-150-81-84.home.cgocable.net) has joined #sl
<dotcppfile> and use ircsock
<phyrrus9> fuck python
<dotcppfile> and you're basically done?
<dotcppfile> lol
<Shebang> +div 4 3
<Shebang> herp
<phyrrus9> no really.....python is one of the worst languages for serverside
<dotcppfile> well
<phyrrus9> I refuse to install the interpreters on my servers
<dotcppfile> why is that?
<phyrrus9> because its insecure and useless
<dotcppfile> that's a vague
* ShebangBot has quit (Client closed connection)
<dotcppfile> and invalid
<dotcppfile> argument.
<phyrrus9> not the least bit
<dotcppfile> python is insecure and useless.
<dotcppfile> prove it mate lol
<phyrrus9> insecure: python is interpreted, it can be permutated during runtime.
* ShebangBot (~ShebangBot@d24-150-81-84.home.cgocable.net) has joined #sl
<dotcppfile> by who?
<Shebang> +div 4 3
<dotcppfile> magicians?
<dotcppfile> lol
<Shebang> cmaan
<Shebang> +say Fuck
<ShebangBot> Fuck
* ShebangBot has quit (Client closed connection)
<phyrrus9> useless: it's slow, has no advantage, its interpreted (meaning it has no direct access and depends on features to be 'implemented' before they can be implemented)
<dotcppfile> it's slow?
<dotcppfile> did you even benchmark it?
<dotcppfile> before you say so?
<phyrrus9> how about this....write the fastest hello world program you can in python and send it to me...ill benchmark it against a C program
<dotcppfile> well
<dotcppfile> a c program is obviously better
<dotcppfile> I never said it wasnt
<phyrrus9> exactly
<dotcppfile> but this doens't make
<dotcppfile> python slow
<dotcppfile> at all...
<dotcppfile> comparing it to any other language
<dotcppfile> except for c/c++
<phyrrus9> no, the fact that it is interpreted as JIT does
<dotcppfile> it's ass kicking.
<phyrrus9> any other language? BCPL, B, D, C#, Objective-C, Go (which is extremely slow compared to C but still miles ahead of python)
<dotcppfile> no
<dotcppfile> they're not.
<dotcppfile> lol
<phyrrus9> fuck man even Java is faster than python
<dotcppfile> C#
<dotcppfile> what?
<dotcppfile> lol
<dotcppfile> java is faster than python?
<dotcppfile> lol
<phyrrus9> C# can compile directly to object code and skip CLR
<dotcppfile> did you ever use
<dotcppfile> sockets in C#
<dotcppfile> ?
<phyrrus9> and you need to do some research on Jazelle
<phyrrus9> kid, ive used more programming languages than you have years on this earth
* ShebangBot (~ShebangBot@d24-150-81-84.home.cgocable.net) has joined #sl
<dotcppfile> well
<dotcppfile> not really
<dotcppfile> kid.
<dotcppfile> lol
<phyrrus9> oh for fucks sake Shebang....use a temp channel....like +test
<dotcppfile> you can name languages all day long
<dotcppfile> no shit is gonna ever change
<dotcppfile> lol
<phyrrus9> actually, youre EXTREMELY wrong
<phyrrus9> computer science changes by the hour
<dotcppfile> your opinion mate
<dotcppfile> keep it yourself.
<phyrrus9> oh really?
<dotcppfile> yes
<dotcppfile> really.
<dotcppfile> and for a guy talking about "coding 123 language of r along time"
<dotcppfile> and comparing them
<dotcppfile> based on speed
<dotcppfile> you're bad at this
<dotcppfile> lol
<phyrrus9> speed?
<phyrrus9> thats all you took from that?
<dotcppfile> that's all you said.
<phyrrus9> not JIT sucks, and scripted languages are insecure?
* You have been kicked from #SL by admin (flaming (noob))
* Now talking on #SL
* Topic for #SL is: Official SL IRC
* Topic for #SL set by -Server- at Tue Aug 25 04:15:07 2015
<CPP> that wasn't nice.
<CPP> kiddo.
* admin sets ban on *!*otcppfile@80.82.64.*
<CPP> oh well.
It's kind of sad how he didn't even allow me to prove my point and kicked me/banned me more than twice.
What's even worse is that he has an ego problem lol.
Saying that python is shit by comparing its speed with other languages based on "echoing hello" when there's a huge difference in speed between a language and another when it comes to different types of operations and functions is kind of dumb.
Lets not forget that you might want to talk about initial startup time, memory usage, cpu usage, performance in general etc when comparing languages.
Now, forcing an opinion an IRC chat, banning tor exit nodes lol and calling someone a skid when he doesn't agree with what you say is a very immature thing to do.
The reason I'm posting this is basically because I'm not joining the IRC anymore and also because I want people to know about what might happen if you disagree with phyrrus9, the baws lol.
