Setting up Tor-Proxy for google chrome 02-10-2014, 05:52 PM

So, I do have Tor Browser on my computer for any more... sensitive browsing. However, I prefer Google Chrome to Tor, and therefore use it for other browsing. Sometimes, I want to switch to using proxy for a while, without having to open Tor browser, and deal with the interface that is, let it be admitted, less pleasant.
ATTENTION! Only works on Windows, as far as I've tested!
So, here's what you need:
ATTENTION! Only works on Windows, as far as I've tested!
So, here's what you need:
- The Tor Browser - Link
- Google Chrome - Link
- Proxy SwitchySharp - Link
So, now that you have all of that installed, open up chrome, and go to the top right corner, and second-click the globe icon (Proxy SwitchySharp). From the menu choose options, which will take you to the options page of the plugin.

On the screenshot above you can already see what you need to enter, but let's go over it anyway.
First, click on "create new profile", and then enter for SOCKS host:
which, I'm sure you know, is the IP of the local computer.Code:127.0.0.1
for the port enter:
Code:9050Spoiler: if not working
If this port doesn't work for you, go to your vidalia panel, click settings, go to the "advanced" tab, and then click "Edit current trrc. the SOCKS port is there.
After this, remember to check "SOCKS v5", name the profile (optional: choose it's color) and save the settings.
Now, next we are going to make clicking on the Proxy SwitchySharp icon switch proxies. To do this click on the General tab on the Proxy SwitchySharp options page.

Make sure "Quick Switch" is checked, and drag up the names of the proxies you want to switch between (topmost is default).
Now, once you exit the options page, and click on the globe icon on the top right of your browser. it will cycle through the proxies you have set, changing the color of the globe to the color of the currently selected proxy.
Don't be afraid to post here, or PM me any questions.
Have fun, Cr33py
