[OP] How to SE any mouse #1
Hello all,

Since I have been a little inactive I would love to share to you guys a method I have been **cough* keeping a secret for a time now.

This method is extremely overpowered and can be used almost anytime you need to.

This method is extremely simple and can be done without much effort at all. It requires modifying a registry within the hardware - can be redone afterwards.

Without further ado, lets get straight into the tutorial.

  1. Open up your registry editor my pressing Windows key + R and typing in "regedit"
  2. Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop and set WheelScrollChars and WheelScrollLines to 0. (This disables your scroll wheel)
Note: Make sure to reboot your computer for action to take affect.
  3. Now for the fun part, simply file a report to the company you are trying to SE and send them a video of your mouse scroll wheel not working.
  4. Once done, navigate back to  HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop and set WheelScrollChars and WheelScrollLines to 1 and reboot your computer. (This will enable your scroll wheel)
  5. Enjoy your replacement / refund

This is a method I have came up with myself, so I would like for you to give me some credit.

Cheers,
~ Waifu.

Excellent method Indeed.

Where available, It can also be disabled In Control Panel, by selecting the "Wheel" tab In the Mouse Properties.

Where is the option to disable it? I only see two options; virtual scrolling, and horizontal scrolling.

Edit: you can no longer set the scroll wheel value to 0 - windows automatically adjusts back to the value 1

You mean "Vertical" Scrolling.

Set both to "0".

Do they not just ask for you to send back the mouse?

Some do, but It can also depend on the value and other factors.

If the cost of freight (to return It) outweighs the cost of the mouse, the company will request a video. That's just one example, there are many more.

If so, box or seal them.

One thing that I can't seem to understand with the boxing method is that if you send nothing in the box, will the company get back to me? Because usually refunds get processed when the defective item arrives, don't they?

Please explain a bit for me. Thanks to you and OP for this method, will report back if I'm successful.

They will most likely contact you and state that the box you've sent was empty and that they only process the claim further if you sent the item. Just say that you've sent the item and wait for their response.
