How to fix the 'torrent not valid bencoding' problem. #1

The war between internet service providers and pirates seems to have gotten even more complex, with carriers blocking the unblocking methods that target its blocks.

Nearly all of the most popular torrent sites, including Kickass Torrents and Isohunt, are now banned by UK providers, but until recently these blocks could be fairly easily circumvented by proxies.

Scores of uTorrent users (including me) are now reporting being hit with 'Torrent is not valid bencoding' error messages which appear when you try to open a file in uTorrent or BitTorent.

It has been posited that ISPs are corrupting the torrents on purpose, as the proxy only works for access to sites in browsers, and won't cover the launching of the torrent.

But there is a very simple fix I found out, use magnet links instead.

Hope this helps.

“Torrent is not valid Bencoding” Solution Using Magnet Link

If you regularly download the movies, software, TV shows and games using torrent, then you might be aware of the magnet link. You must know that there are two ways to download the torrent file against your torrent client. In the first method, you can download the torrent file on PC and then select the torrent file from your Torrent Client for initiating the download. And the second method is using the magnet link available on the Torrent sites.

In this method, we firstly download the required torrent file.  And then open the same file in the torrent software such as Utorrent, Bit Torrent, etc. After the downloading begins it will show the error. The reason here is that the downloaded torrent file is corrupted. To bring in your notice, you will find an icon of the magnet link on the torrent site. You have to just click on the magnet link, and automatically it will run your torrent software. And your download will then start. Hence you will no longer find such error.

Hope this helps.

This thread is of 2015. That's almost 3 years old, it's not even sure this is working anymore. Thank you for adding the information, but it might be better to just create a new thread instead of boosting up an old one.
