Get your cheap item and peel that barcode off and replace it with the item you want to buy

Wouldn't there be a mismatch of barcodes? That Is, the cheaper Item will be scanned as It's respective description, hence not match the description of Item you wish to purchase.

This actually works most of the time, usually employees just dont care and ring you up for the cheaper item anyway.

Looking at the method itself, and from past referrence, try to use an item similar. OP for example purchased a wood four-drawer tower and replaced it with a sticker from a plastic four-drawer tower. By making it seem as a mismatch on their part you would be in the clear. Go ahead and shell out $100 for that mediocre midline GTX gpu's barcode that you put on a GTX 1080, slap it on, check it out, make sure its an older Self Check Out monitor, you're in the clear. (This one's kinda iffy cause they keep that shit in boxes. But hey, whatever you can get away with!)
