Melbourne Police spoke with the student who supposedly wrote the email, but they determined he didn’t have any involvement with it, according to Sgt. Sheridan Shelley.

There were no arrests.

University Spokesman Wes Sumner said the lockdown lasted less than 90 minutes, and that it appears to have been a hoax. They’re holding classes and activities as usual, though with a “heightened sense of security.”

Police will continue to investigate and try to determine the origin of the threat.

My question is, who has it out for you? Seems like a big risk, swatting you for whatever they feel you did. The cops know you weren't involved, now they are after they guy who was.

The penalty for this is up to 5 years in jail. They will find them unless they have a very good VPN.
