The selling of SE'd items #1
I was wondering, are there any problems that could be expected with the selling of SE'd items (let's say £1k a month) on eBay?
So for example would your b@nk question you as to how you are getting these paypal deposits?

Just looking to the future as the b@nk is the last place you want trouble

Depositing money from paypal to your bank, especially from ebay sales, shouldn't give you any issues. I'd be more worried in general with selling the items on Ebay.

Depending on what you're selling, there are a lot of users who will attempt to SE/scam you as well. Ebay has been known to side with the buyers. Really just be sure to pay the extra couple $ for shipping insurance, and any problems that arise take it up with insurance. I've sold on Ebay for a while, and while I rarely had issues, the times I did it was obvious the buyer was attempting to get something for nothing. When you claim through insurance, they have to send you the item back before they receive a refund, and insurance pays you still. So you basically double dip your own item (You're left with your item + insurance claim money, they get their money back). Abusing that is insurance fraud (obviously) but legitimate claims is what insurance is for, and I've came ahead quite a few times. (Sorry to rant about how to sell on ebay lol)

Ebay also takes around 10% in fees for each item and you have to pay for S&H. I'd personally list the items locally first (Offer up, Craigslist, Facebook, etc) and if you don't sell them within a week a so, then list them on Ebay.

Worst case scenario, if you get caught up with the law regarding your items, ebay is going to leave an obvious trail of everything you've obtained. If you can create anonymous accounts and sell locally, it'll be much harder to bite you in the ass later.

So no, I wouldn't worry about the bank, or getting money from ebay/paypal. I'd just try to act carefully if you plan on SEing items and selling them for a profit. Most people's "SE" is technically stealing, which is where caution is needed.

Speaking from personal experience, your bank has no reason to question deposits. If you're working and filing your annual Income tax returns, It's the taxation office that you'll be answering to.

I remember when I used to sell SEd gadgets (iPads, phones) on eBay. Eventually Paypal got suspicious and asked me for receipts for the items before I could have access to my PayPal funds. I conjured up some fake amazon receipts and got them off my back. That’s just one thing you need to be cautious of. Never had issues with the bank though.

But as stated you want to try and sell locally as you avoid the eBay fees, leave minimal paper trail of your activity and you get the benefit of instant payment.

I hear a lot of people on reddit's flipping forum that Mercari is good, OfferUp or LetGo. Craigslist is good too.

eBay is a hunting ground for SE... I've sold things to people and gotten threatened that they know it's stolen or whatever... say they're going to contact the authorities and blah blah blah

No issues since I sell under the guise of a seller service (selling other peoples crap).. I apologize, offer a refund, they and keep the stolen crap they've stolen from me.

I JUST had this happen but I consider it par for the course, especially when selling on eBay. No honor among thieves *shrug*

I've learned how to filter out the people "digging" to find out if it's SEed or stolen (pretty obvious) but sometimes I just want to move the product and take the risk.

I don't recommend eBay unless you're lazy and willing to take an L from time to time, like I am, and only if you're selling from time to time.

As previous people have said, use everything to protect yourself as a seller because they really do favor the buyer... I forgot to tick that "signature required" box and got DNAed... people are savages on eBay

If I may, use a receipt generator and include an picture of it in the listing, this will help stop these people before they start

I won’t stop all people but it will stop the chancers in advanced so they move on to someone else.

But your right about eBay being an SEing playground
