[Snickerdoodle]

Has anyone watched this movie yet? Would you recommend it to others to see? The Odyssey is a familiar story and it's a remake if an old tale that's been turned into movies in the past. It has several big actors in it too. Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway and Zendaya.

I didn't see it, but I read Homer plenty. There was a lot of controversy on casting decisions and artistic liberties. Not sure if people are being overly critical.

idrc bout the casting decisions. They made it so Xenia's Law(Zeus's Law in the movie) was used as a golden rule type thing which i didnt like and despite the homeric version having the greeks attack on troy be divinely sanctioned by multiple gods cause of various reasons(helen abducted etc.) they framed it as the greeks breaking the law by using the horse. If i rmr correctly the gods only got mad during the fall of troy cause the greeks did violent stuff at altars and such

It sounds like it was turned into a twist of the original story as most modern film directors tend to do nowadays. I was looking forward to watching it, maybe when it's no longer in threatres if it's critic review is leaning towards the latter.

yea i hate to say it but it felt like a simplified version for wide appeal. I get why its done but its tragic cause the greeks relationship with religion was a lot more complex and interesting. But overall i still enjoyed it as a theatre experience in 70 MM

Still have doubt on this movie. Mix reactions even from my friends. Maybe till I run out of my list then only I watch

I was a little disappointed by it tbh. The visuals were fantastic and I enjoyed the acting, but I felt like the plot meandered a bit too much for my liking.

Odysseus's return was great though.
