[TUT]How to get rid of WinRAR's "30 day trial" 10-29-2012, 04:41 AM
#1
As we all know WinRAR has by far the most effective system of trust on their program.
They will give you a 40 day free trial, then try to annoy you to death until you pay them with this message:

Don't be tricked, this message does not take any functionality away from WinRAR, which means that you get the same WinRAR if you pay, and if you don't pay. WinRAR wants to annoy you into buying their product.
Believe it or not, this simple message does its job. I have seen and heard of at least 10 people who have bought WinRAR in order to get rid of this simple annoyance.
But since we don't all have that type of money i will teach you how to get rid of that thing once and for all.
Lets start!
All we need to do is make a simple crack on the winrar.exe file.
Note that this simple crack will not turn you into what is otherwise known as a "l337 haxor". But if your smart enough you might be able to absorb some details that could help you on your journey.
Step 1:Tools
Open up VLC Media player and play your favorite nerd music. Perhaps some Pornophonique or some Zearle.
Then download this tool:
ResHack
This tool lets you edit resource files used by most executable file types like .exe
As it turns out, WinRAR's annoying message is in fact stored as a resource file! So using this program we can edit the message so it never pops up.
Please note that just about any resource file editor will work, but i like ResHack because it is small, and does its job.
Step 2: Cracking
Drag WinRAR.exe into ResHacker.exe to open it up.

You should get a window that looks like this:
![[Image: rarshot2.png]](http://imgboot.com/images/druidtton/rarshot2.png)
Expand the branch called "Dialog" Then the sub branch called "Reminder"
This is where our annoying little friend is stored.
Click on the Gear=like thing that has the number 1033 on it. This is the dialog box. Play around with it before we delete it. Its loads of fun to make it say dumb things xD Be sure to click "Compile script" after any changes.
Credit points: Try to make the message disappear on its own after 5 seconds.
Now just right click it and "Delete Resource"

There you are. Done!
Now you just need to go to File>Save
![[Image: rarshot5.png]](http://imgboot.com/images/druidtton/rarshot5.png)
Now open up WinRAR and guess what!? NO MORE ANNOYING LITTLE MESSAGE!
There you go!
Now go and show it to other people xD Upload it to thepiratebay and btjunkie and be sure to take all the credit for it.
You should continue exploring with other programs, don't be afraid to use it on good'ol explorer.exe and see how much you can change your Windows XP. Next time we will be talking about using Debuggers to crack programs.
Have a nice day ^^
