How to Find People's IP on MSN
An Internet Protocol (IP) address is the four number address for a computer or other device that is connected to the Internet. While IP addresses are always changing and are rarely static, some people like to know the IP addresses of the individual they connect with in order to verify who they are. It can useful in accessing a computer remotely to help a friend. In order to find out the IP address of an MSN friend, you will need to be connected with that friend.
Instructions:
1. Click the "Start" button on the bottom-left of your computer's screen and Click "Run" A menu will pop up; in the box at the bottom type "CMD." This will cause a black box to pop up.
2. Types "NETSTAT -n" into the black box and press "Enter" on your keyboard. A list of IP addresses will appear. Copy these and save them in a word processing document.
3. Start chatting with a friend on IM. Get him to send you a file or connect with you through a video chat. This will open access to his IP address.
4. Repeat steps one and two by clicking "Start," entering "CMD," and typing in "NETSTAT -n". This will give you a new list of IP addresses.
5. Copy the IP addresses into the word processing document and compare the two lists. The IP address that is in the second list but wasn't in the first list is the IP of the person you are chatting with.
