If you run TOR, and you plan on doing a no-no, you need to KNOW what you're doing. TOR uses 1024 RSA/DH as of 2.3 and NSA can crack that. 2.4 beta has better encryption that they probably can't crack but I still wouldn't put your trust into tor since your data is being thrown around different ends. Not only that but NSA puts backdoors on a lot of these nodes.

Tor is a browser which gives you anonymity and VPN tunnels your network giving you anonymity.

Which in other words mean that if you use a VPN , your whole computer is protected.

Wrong about the VPN as the other guy stated, and also wrong... Tor isn't just a browser it works as a proxy so theoretically you can use it for pretty much anything. It's pretty secure besides the fact that NSA and FBI and the government uses it.

Lets make this simple, and no, I'm not just tossing out sites I use here until I gain some further access into the forum, but I can tell you ways around this or practically anything. First, use your pc through an ELITE proxy by itself, masked under a VPN as well as the Tor browser. That will completely hide you as far as that is concerned. As far as anything like Skype is concerned, you still want the 3rd added protection to use, so use a skype configurator, where it makes your skype run through its own proxy as well, once again an ELITE proxy is best.

So you bring up a question I have always considered is it better to route:

VPN -> Tor -> web

or

Tor -> VPN -> web

Thoughts?

Good idea, i will try this out.

I know this thread is a little old, but HMA VPN is what I use if anyone is interested. Servers available to route threw another country, all data is said to be dumped every 24 hours. So by the time any authorities retrieve logs there will be nothing to give.
