Swapping a warehouse item for a new one, thoughts? #1
As per title, it's too early for me to hit our favourite shop just yet, so I'm planning to get an item from the warehouse at a fairly good price and later on, think a month or so, I could buy it (with a third part account maybe?) new and send back the used one telling them that I'm no longer interested in it.. would it work?
It's not an item that has an IMEI or anything, a serial number maybe, but I doubt they keep track of that, and I could send the used one in its own box so the SN matches what's inside
What do you think?

Are you referring to Amazon Warehouse Deals?

Correct, not "a deal" but yes, from their warehouse as a used item

It's a monitor BTW, therefore not really serial-number bound

Be sure It does not contain a serial number or other details that can uniquely Identify It.

Amazon warehouse Items go through a 20-point quality Inspection prior to being sold, and any details such as the model code, version number, serial etc are recorded with the transaction. If you return It Instead of the new product you've purchased, they may well establish It was a warehouse Item.

I guess swapping the serial number sticker on the back would be enough to prevent this though? It's not like a monitor has a lot of ways to check its identity in a unique way

It does.

Some monitors have a model number, version code, part number, manufacturer date, patent number, and the list goes on.

But would they even check that? I don't think they write down the serial number of whatever monitor they send out, so if they get one back and it's the same model (just not so new anymore) it shouldn't really matter, at least that's what I thought

They do for verification/Identification purposes, as well as Inventory record keeping.

Don't assume and particularly, underestimate Amazon.

As of late, they're very thorough with checking returns. Cover every angle to help ensure a favorable outcome.

Do you think swapping the SN sticker would work then?
As I'm returning (well a friend would be so it can't be traced to my warehouse purchase) a brand new monitor that I'm not satisfied with, they shouldn't really make that many checks.. or so I hoped
I'd also do this a month or so after the warehouse purchase, I could even purchase the new one from a different country just to be safer

In my view, the possibility of It working, Is equally divided with the possibility of It failing - namely due to Amazon meticulously checking returns as of late.

If It were a company other than Amazon, I'd give It a very good chance of succeeding.
