I'm hoping I am posting this in the correct section, if not forgive me. I am just starting out in the hacking field and my hope is someday to make a career of it as a pen tester (grey hat). I have read the posts about starting out and right now it seems to be information overload. My question is what would you all recommend as a starting point? I do have my A+ cert but not claiming to know everything about pc hardware or software, far from it in fact, but I do have a good understanding of them in general. Would you recommend starting to learn more about networks or programming or what first or another starting point? I'm not working right now so time isn't a factor, atleast when the wife leaves me alone for a while lol. Grateful for any help/advice and thank you in advance.

Start by learning a programming language like c++ or C then learn backtrack 5 and stuff. MySQL inject and then you will know where to go from there
