Soundcard Suggestions #1
Looking for some brand/model suggestions for a soundcard. I'm going to be getting an audiophile grade headset and need a nice soundcard to get the best quality out of it.

For compatibility purposes, post your MOBO's make and model.

I'm going to have to take apart my PC to figure that out since I can't find it online. I'll do this later tonight when I have the spare time. My laptop is an HP 15-U473CL if you feel like you can find something online before I dismantle mine.

Good find.

Speccy also does the job well. Alternatively, on the Windows platform, you can use the native System Information utility by entering "msinfo32.exe" (no quotes) In the search bar or Run menu.

I took a look at Speccy, this is what it told me my motherboard is: HP 8114 (U3E1)

To my knowledge, HP lappies have an on-board (Integrated) sound card so to Install a new one, there's three options available.

* In the PCMCIA slot.
* In the ExpressCard slot.
* Via USB (obviously).

Depending on the age of your lappy, It'll either have the PCMCIA or ExpressCard slot. Check which of the two apply and we can work from there.

I apologize for my ignorance, but I haven't the slightest idea which I have. I've done some searching online to try and get an idea of what the PCMCIA and ExpessCard slots look like, but I don't have anything that really look like either that I've found on YouTube or other websites.

What I do have is an area integrated into my motherboard that I can inside my SD cards into, and I know that's a similar function to what can be done with one of the two slots. I've taken a picture of because I opened my laptop to check it out, so if you think you could tell me which it is I'll upload it to Imgur and shoot ya the link. Otherwise I'll keep searching and try to figure this out.

Or does it not matter which I have if I wanted to take the installation via USB route? If so then I feel like that would be the easiest, and I've got a USB slot to spare for the time being.

A USB sound card Is certainly the easiest option, and will perform almost just as good as one that's Internally placed.

I'll definitely be taking the USB route for convenience.
