Im new to networking stuff so I hope im not asking to many dumb things ^^ - Just wondering how u could go for information gathering in a LAN network, lets say a hostel/hotel/other building that got a structure like that. It got its own proxy server which communicates with the GAN. Therefor will be a switch (Which is connected with the proxy) and the switch got the connection to each LAN socket in the hostel rooms.
All permissions for each PC in this network to enter the internet is given by the proxy. Ok so far we got the structure of the network itself.
How is it possible to get informations from other PCs which are connected to the net? Im Thinking about getting Cookies/Logins, Data from their drive and maybe other things.
I know how to protect against such things in a WLAN or what/how to set up my PC the be „save“. Also I know how to attack the network there. (Wireshark, Cain - Able, Wifite, etc.)
How u perform something like that in a LAN like explained above? Thought about setting up some pishing site to gain access to other PCs but that would be obvious to see through.

It really depends on the services they're running(ICMP). You could also always RAT them, a cookie stealer, or XSS.

Agree on Tirius, OR you can use some sort of metasploit attacks (Well there's too many kind of hacky stuffs there)

Correct me if Im wrong, but the best way I've found to go sniffing is to preform a MITM, then setup with wireshark/cain and able.

Yes, Wireshark is your best option and as an added bonus it's free and there are a lot of tutorials on how to do it. Example
