MyBB, originally MyBulletinBoard, is a free and open source forum software which is developed by the MyBB Group. It is written in PHP, supports MySQL, PostgreSQL and SQLite as database systems and has database failover support. It is licensed under the LGPL.It is extremely easy to use.Infact this forum is made with mybb.

000webhost.com lets you host your website for free. It provide you 1500 mb storage without any ads.
Best of all , it allows you to host your own ads in your website. In other words , its 'better than paid hosting'.

Spoiler: More Features

First of all , we need to download mybb 1.6.10. So go to -> http://www.mybb.com/downloads and click on download now button on the right side. Open and extract the zip file to your desktop [ or elsewhere that suits you ].
Just ignore the documentation file. What we will be using basically is the upload folder.

Open up the upload folder and add all the files to a zip archive. We need to do this so that we can upload it to 000webhost without using a ftp software.

Now we need to create an account at www.000webhost.com. So head up there and make an account. I believe that you don't require a tutorial on how to register an account. Or do you? If so , give me a pm and I'll modify the thread.
Now login to your account.
You should have something like this-


Click on create new button at the top. In the 2nd textbox [ sub domain ] , enter the url you wish to have.
Enter a good password and click on 'setup new account'. Now open up the cpanel of your domain, which in my case is
testforums.hostei.com. Then go to file manager.
If you dont know which is the file manager , here it is-

Note: Sometimes your session may expire and you will have to re-enter your password.
After the file manager is loaded click on 'public html' folder.Always remember that the websites content [ whatever it is ] should be uploaded to the public folder.
The file manager should look something like this-


Now click on upload button at the top.


Click on 'choose file' button on the right side [ i.e the archive section ].
Browse and choose the the zip archive containing the upload files.
After selecting the file , click on the icon at the top.
Click on button , again after upload.
Now click on button to go back to the file manager.
Now you should have something like this-

The next thing we have to do is rename the config.default.php to config.php.
So click on the 'inc' folder. Select the config.default.php file and click on rename from the top right section.
In the new textbox enter - 'config.php'. It should look like this-


Click on the green tick [ submit ]. It will show that the file was renamed successfully. Click the back button [ an arrow ].

Now we're done with setting up the installer. But we still need to install Mybb.
So go to yourwebsite/install
For eg- my website is - http://testforums.hostei.com/.
Therefore I need to browse to http://testforums.hostei.com/install

Now you should see the setup menu ( or so i like to call it xD ) which would look like this -

Click Next.
Click Next again.
Click Next again [ If you meet the minimum requirements ].
Finally , we have arrived at the Database Configuration part of the setup.
So, we need to create a database for the users.
Head up to your 000Webhost Cpanel and select "MySql" from "Software / Services".
Enter any text [ something related ] for mysql_database name and mysql_database username.
Enter a good password.
Heres me doing it-


Now you should have something like this -

Go the setup and fill up everything. Choose database engine as 'MySql'.
Heres how you fill it [ #SpoonFeeding ]

Now keep on pressing 'next' until you reach Board Configuration.
Use your common sense to fill it up. Leave Cookie Settings and Website url as such.
It should look somewhat like this -

Click Next.Again , use your common sense to fill it up.
Finally , click the last next button.Now you should see a message , telling you that your forum was successfully
created. Browse to your website / forum , login to the admin account and customize your forum.

But if you cannot afford a good web host , you have no choice.
I believe at least 50 accounts can be created. That would give you enough time to get donations. :ok:
