Good evening,
I have read @moterhed 's guide regarding the SN method.
I am very perplexed ....
With a short search I came to recover several SN of new and used electronic devices. I checked through the manufacturer's website and found that it is easy to retrieve the information.
Exemple: I recovered SN of a semi / new gpu of a well-known brand, On their site I checked and I saw that it is still under warranty (let's say I could stop at the warranty terms which are 3 years).
The problem is that when I go to enter the info, the site asks me for more info: the date of purchase, the store, the invoice etc ... I do not have all these info but by doing IF I could at least retrieve the owner's data or through call or chat I could by-pass the data entry if anything by saying that I have thrown everything away.
I wonder, when I manage to do SE and then get a refund or replacement, isn't it dangerous? In order to get a refund, I must necessarily enter an account attributable to me (I opened a thread days ago asking for coins from an anonymous account but without receiving a reply) or a replacement I must enter an address with a name (that can be easily solved). But I ask myself in the case of investigations, do you not risk more than the other methods?
Because if anything, if you do SE with EB, DNA, FTID or other good or bad, you can always get by with some excuse (like my wife picked up the package but didn't warn me, sorry .... etc ..) but here? if you get caught the complaint starts immediately ... Because if they discover such an action it can only be a scam.
Give me some advice or tell me where I'm wrong.
Thank you
