I believe what he means is buying a gc from amazon and using it himself, and then contacting Amazon to tell them that the gift card that he bought from a third party seller didn't work.

So what do you think about OP's question, could it work? My .02 is that they would just say it is not their responsibility, but I have never tried anything like this.

does exist something that can check the status of a giftcard? like if a giftcard is working or not without redeeming it, if yes does amazon have this stuff and check the giftcards if they really don't work and not replacing it for the customer
