SE Sony help needed! #1
I am currently trying to SE a pair of headphones from Sony and am trying something similar to FoxyDrew's post a few days ago. I told them that the headphones where left plugged in and then by morning where leaking battery acid and slightly melted.

They emailed me asking for not just a serial code (which I have got and expected),but a picture of the damaged headphones and a picture of the plug used. What should I do guys?

I personally wouldn't have gone for the battery leak method, I would have gone for dried blood which you can't clean off, as it is easier to photoshop.

However, try saying something like you have a little child who likes putting stuff in his mouth, so as soon as you noticed the leak, you threw the headphones away to protect the child.

You should've opted for the "wrong Item received" method.

As for your current Issue, do as @"dark_net" stated above- tell them (for safety reasons) you disposed of the headphones.

Update: There have been a few emails back and forth now about this. I have acquired several sets of pictures through eBay messages, and can now use them in my responses. I have sent them a picture of the charger and cables as they requested and have managed to avoid sending any pictures of the headphones. All of the messaging so far has been about the damage to the headphones and a replacement hasn't been mentioned. I will probably have to bring this up first.

I couldn't do wrong item received as I didn't actually buy the headphones, so there is no proof of purchase and am instead relying on them to send a replacement unit to me.

I haven't had a response for about 12 hours now, and I will look to press this case on the live chat again and feign frustration at the slow progress of the replacement case. I expect to have to resolve this on the phone, but that should be helpful in stressing how it would be illegal to return a damaged battery.

Are you doing this in the UK or the US?

Recieved a response not too long after the last post. They simply wanted more details about the headphones, if I was willing to phone them and where I bought it. I told them I bought it from a particular store that didn't offer their own warranty service, as well as telling them that I would happily phone them to resolve the case. I also made sure to begin to introduce frustration in a firm, but respectful manner over how slow the warranty service is and how I expected better. I have used the live chat to press the case about 2 times now, and this seems to get them to respond faster.

I plan on giving them any actual details last, after they agree to a replacement, so I can retry with different details if necessary.
