SE Planing (Wrong Item Sealed Box) #1
I just looked at different digital camera models. I noticed 2 cameras that have about the same weight (less than 80 grams difference). However, they are very different in price. They are from the brand: Sony.

Then it occurred to me that I could use the Wrong item Sealed Box method and appeal to a "manufacturer error".

I have seen that both cameras are delivered in a box by which you can not see the actual camera. Only on the packaging you can see pictures and the description of the camera.

Before I start my SE attempt via Amazon, I wanted to make sure.

Both are sold and shipped by Amazon. The cheaper camera I buy from a fresh account which is not linked to the main account.

I wait until both cameras arrive and then go in to the Amazon chat. There I will tell the rep that I opened the camera packaging and there was a completely different camera inside.

They will then definitely start an investigation. They will notice the weight matches (almost). They will notice the camera is from their stock.

Then I hope they will acknowledge that it is a manufacturer's error and give me a refund.

Approximately how long will the process take? Have I thought of everything? If I return the (apparently) wrong item, do I use the packaging from the camera I want to SE?

I'm guessing the boxes are different though? So you can tell which item you received before you open it
If you're planning on saying the manufacturer put the wrong item, then it doesn't matter if it's sold from Amazon since for them it was the camera pictured on the box
You kinda mixed up MEB/MWI (a new acronym I just made up) with wrong item:
- in the first case, it doesn't matter what was in the box, if anything at all (weight problems aside), the manufacturer got it wrong and that's it, Amazon should believe you if your account is good enough, you send back the correct box with the wrong item and you're good
- the latter, you can just say you clearly received the wrong camera without even opening it since it's visible from the box, that's when it matters that both items are sold from Amazon, it's their mistake as they swapped the 2 shipments, you'll still have to return the wrong item in its box and you should get a refund

Not too sure which one would work best here, tough call, how's your account standing?

I think you are overcomplicating it, just use the wrong item method.
Buy the cheaper item with a completely different account, then claim you received the wrong item when you order the more expensive one.
You will have to take pictures and send back the cheaper one, will take like 2 weeks usually but its pretty reliable.

No need to open the product packaging at all unless you want to keep the cheaper item and reseal but not worth the hassle imo.

Does the box contain factory seals?

Will an OTP be required on receipt of goods?

@Nabeshin
Thanks for your elaboration. Yes, the boxes are different. My account had received an OFM 4 months ago (due to DNA - There I was told to check my shipping address, nothing more). Since then I have not made a refund and ordered more than 20 items in the meantime. I am now in good spirits to venture a new refund.

I am also not sure yet if the Wrong Item Seald Box Method will work.

@Quitelargegenitalman
So you mean that the wrong item method is sufficient for this? To me it seemed "safer" to claim that the manufacturer made a mistake. There is less you can do against it.

@mothered
Yes the box contains factory seals from both the cheap camera and the expensive camera. An OTP is rather unlikely. If you ask that I could do DNA, then I have already claimed this many times lately and need to take a break.

Wrong item sealed box is really too much of a hassle, it's a mix of methods that are overkill IMO (also, it's not really sealed box if you open it to see it's the wrong camera)
Just decide if you want to do manufacturer error or wrong item received, and plan just one of them
If you want to go with manufacturer error there's no point in claiming sealed box as you have to open it to see the mistake, you're not sending it back sealed (you'd be charged / denied refund for the wrong item returned), just say the item inside wasn't what you expected
Also, you can buy the wrong item anywhere, not necessarily amazon

In that case, the sealed box method can be used.

As such, It will significantly minimize complications, almost down to zero.

Thank you for your answer. I don't think I understand the process yet. I am slightly confused.

@Nabeshin Nabeshin You are right. If I open the seal and put the cheap camera in, then yes it is no longer the wrong item sealed box method. Or is it? The point is that there was a different camera in the sealed box. I am so confused...

@mothered Let me get this right. We are talking about the same method or? Again in a nutshell.
I buy the expensive camera from Sony on my main account. I buy the 2nd cheap camera from Sony on another account (both from amazon). If the weight data is correct (is there a website where the data is really correct?), there is a difference of less than 80 grams.

I receive both items, open the seal of the manufacturer's packaging and exchange the cameras. I contact Amazon and say I found a completely different item in the sealed packaging. I then return the cheap camera in the packaging of the expensive camera. I leave the seal "destroyed" in the process.

Is this correct? If so I will implement it and continue to report on it. Thx

Let's clear things up:
- sealed box is when you receive a package and return it "sealed" but you swapped the item inside, you don't tell amazon that the item is wrong since you never opened it so you don't know about the mistake, you're just returning an item you don't want anymore, you can put anything in it as long as the weight matches, but amazon might open the box and notice the different item and re-bill you or refuse the return thinking you scammed them
- wrong item is when you order an item and receive a different one, box and all, cause amazon sent you an order that was meant for someone else (who probably got your package instead), in this case it is mandatory that both items are sold by amazon and purchased by 2 different account on the same day, and as long as the 2 accounts aren't linkable you should have no problems making it work, no need for a PR or anything

@Nabeshin I understood the first point. In your 2nd execution, I found the error of understanding. If I understood correctly, you think that the wrong article comes from someone else - that i received someone else's SE in the sealed box. However, my point is to claim a manufacturer error in the sealed box.

That's why I had such thoughts about the choice of the articles. 2 cameras from Sony. The idea is to pretend that the manufacturer has made a mistake. I think that will be almost impossible for Amazon to prove otherwise.

but i am still very unsure whether this will work. Thanks again!
