I used current smileys as a reference, and remade them from scratch. My smiles are clearer and crisp compared to the current, since I remade pixel to pixel instead of scaling down a vector. My smileys are 15x15 pixels while current is 16x16 with 1 pixel buffer.

I see, the problem is, I don't want to use the generic yellow. IOS, Android, and most forums use yellow

Blue would be different which is nice.

Use a color that contrasts the grey/black background, so yellow blue and white are some obvious contrasts
