Risky Sealed box? #1
I was reading this thread, and got some questions about the sealed box method.

If you open the boxing without leaving any marks and swap the cpu, then close the box (glue it) so it looks like brand new and untouched. Then just return the item normally without contacting CS. This is the best and easiest SE in my opinion.

It'll most likely work Initially, but It could cause problems In future when the Item Is sold.

Every return Is recorded against the respective account holder, so If a consumer purchased the Item and legitimately reported It as faulty/Incorrect, the previous point of sale Is "you". If an Investigation takes place, you could be deemed responsible.

It's the same when you physically return an Item In-store. They ask for ID and document It against the returned Item so If Issues are experienced further down the track, they know where to Investigate and If need be, take action accordingly. Sure, you can deny any wrongdoing and more than likely succeed, but there's still the probability of getting caught.

So if executed correctly the sealed box method will get you refunded, but since you can be identifed after pulling it off, is it worthy to use this method? Is there something that is needed to do in order to not get repercussions after doing it?

When SEing, I always look at both sides of the story, so allow me to manipulate my above-mentioned reply Into a favorable outcome for the SE'er.

When a buyer purchases your return, he may well be doing the same thing as yourself- SEing the company using the same or similar method thus he/she Is responsible for tampering with the goods, and not yourself. Moreover, given the Item Is Initially put back Into stock, then picked, packed & dispatched, It goes through so many hands, hence It will be an arduous task trying to "pinpoint" precisely who's responsible.

On those grounds, there's no cause for concern when using the sealed box method.

regardless in any criminal justice case, you dont have to proof your innocence, but rather they have to proof that it was exactly you who tampered it, if it even goes this far.
I would say im must cases where you risk getting accused a simple "fuck off" would suffice.

But ofcourse make sure you got the balls before you do so, if you are neurotic it isnt worth it.

To be apprehended, they'd need evidence that suggests you're the one responsible.

If you apply yourself as per my aforementioned details, It'll be very difficult to conclusively prove you're at fault. Moreover, the police have better things to utilize their valuable resources on, than chasing someone for an Item worth a few hundred dollars or so.

So if after getting refunded I get contacted by the company that I SEed, because they discovered that there was a different item inside box. I can just deny the accusations and proceed using that account?

Correct.

The buyer who purchased your return Is responsible for the Inconsistency.
