Even real banks don't issue credit cards if you don't put some money on their account first, the more you have the higher your CC limit

Revolut's VBC, if you want to call em that, are just like VCC, except prepaid

Yes, I know that you have to put money on Revolut debit cards or link them to your *actual* bank account.  I also understand the reasonings as to why one must add funds to their account. I don't know which real banks you're on about because I've never had to put money on an account/card first in order to obtain a credit card or gain a banks trust as you mention. A credit is exactly that: a type of credit facility, provided by banks that allow customers to borrow funds within a pre-approved credit limit, providing that you pay back the loan amount in the future.

And as far as I'm aware, CC limits are determined by your credit score such as payment history, credit utilisation, length of credit history etc.

I don' think I'm able to convey my question very efficiently. Nonetheless, thank you for your reply.  Smile

Oh ok,  you're from the US, that explains it
There's no credit score thing here in EU, CC limits are mostly based on the worth you prove, so having money on that account, having your income automatically paid to you on that bank and so on, that gives a higher limit
And, since we're getting debit cards  that work online (in the past few years at least) there's really no need for CREDIT cards anymore except some very limited scenario (car rental is one of them), EU isn't big on buying with credit as far as I know, installments are more common

A secured credit card you have to put money up if you have bad credit but otherwise you can get a high limit and use that for chargebacks because its not your money your using and during dispute they don't make you pay that on your bill.. If you chargeback on a debit card or virtual credit card the money is taken right from your bank account when you buy it and depending on the bank they either will give you a pending credit while they investigate or if its a bad bank wont give you shit until the dispute is over so you could be without your money for up to 90 days.

A workaround is transferring money into Revolut or another VCC app bank from a bank account you have at a good bank. Then when these app banks make chargeback a hassle just dispute it with your original bank saying you never authorized $500 to be sent to Revolut.

I only use VCC's for delivery apps like Instacart or doordash
