Yes B&H was a fresh account. I did a $300 order there once before and had no issue so a $500 drone would probably work.  You have a 30 day return window to do battle with them if it comes to that so go for it.

This is probably a silly question, but in the case that I would have to return the item do you I can ship it back to them (officially request return + they give me a shipping label) do you think I can do it without raising suspicion? Do you think it’s a viable option

You mean asking to return an item you previously tried DNA and said you never got? Yes that's fine and will work.
Or do you mean request a return an empty envelope and then that fails and the 30 days is almost up and then just return the item normally? Yes that also will work.
Reps and department rarely communicate with each other anymore in a company. Most reps are so lazy they never read old chat transcripts.

Case in point: How many times have you gone to chat and it ask you to fill out name address and Order # and then you connect with a rep and the first fucking thing they ask without fail is "Can I have the order number?" SMH
