In the most serious manner possible, how far away are we from full on mechanical body replacements for terminally-ill people? It's a dumb question, but I'm legitimately asking.

It really depends on how much of a market comes up for limbs and such. On paper it should be no big deal, but health complications compound with multiple implants. At a guess, not in our lifetime, although a doctor would be more qualified to answer.
