Quick Boxing Question #1
Hi all,

been a bit since I've been on sinisterly or SEd at all but I'm back and hoping to get active again; hope you're all doing good. I attempted a SE on a headphones company that'd I like to keep private but they have offered a replacement and want the item back. How would I go around boxing this? A pre-paid Royal Mail envelope will be sent out. Could I just leave it empty and send it out and claim that it must have been tampered with or do I remove parts of the label to make it seem like it's been lost like in a FTID? Really just wondering how I would do this.

SEd a lot but have actually never boxed so hoping I could get some help here.

They've said "I would ask that you take the return envelope to any Post Office, where you will be given a Certificate of Posting - just in case! I would also ask that you send through an image of your Certificate of Posting once you have returned the damaged headphones. In the unlikely event that your package was lost in transit, the Certificate of Posting would allow you to confirm that the damaged headphones have been returned." as well.

Thanks.

Dimensions:
74 x 45 x 28mm (case)

Weights
7g (earbud)
78g (case)

Pre-paid envelope is sent out but not sure what it looks like yet, will know in a few days.

The weight will suffice to box without adding a weight substitute, and the size Is small enough to not show significant signs of tampering at the collection point.

I think this has a pretty good chance of success.

You can send them back the original envelope without adding the headphones, the weight is light enough, otherwise you could box the headphones putting in the return box some material that gives the impression belongs to warehouses and sealing the package with different coloured tape, giving the impression the package it has been opened by somebody during transit and the inside substitute and stolen.

Thanks for the ideas. I'm good with just sending back the pre-paid envelope itself empty? Just wondering what to say if they ask why it's empty. I should receive the pre-paid envelope tomorrow.

Act pretending you've correctly send back the item.
You don't have to tell them nothing else.

Correct. It's light enough to either not register a weight on consignment, or deem a forthcoming Investigation Inconclusive.

It's not good practice to complicate the SE, particularly when better/easier options (as per the above) are available.
