Question about message from shop #1
Soo I tried to refund a pair of Vans shoes. I wanted to get my money back instead of the actual shoes back again, because the shoes are here with me. So, I gave them an excuse that I went to my gf right before the package arrived and my gf and her fam got covid, so I couldn't come home for 2 weeks. When I got home eventually, I saw that the package was empty - no shoes.

This is what Vans sent me back:

Quote:I'm sorry to hear that some items are missing from your package, I will now contact GLS to find out what happened. In the meantime, I would like to ask you to send photos of the package. I would also like to ask you to fill in the enclosed form, sign it and return it by email - This is to confirm to GLS that you have received your package damaged with missing products.
(all in Dutch but I translated) (form is an affidavit)

I know Zalando does this as well. I filled one in for an order of ~300 euros. These shoes are 80 euros. I did Zalando with a refunder, and he succeeded with the refund, this Vans order I am doing alone. I don't want to risk legal stuff just because of 80 euros.. but, I want to gain experience, so I wanted to try this order.

What should I do? I don't know if GLS weighs because they didn't mention it in my track and trace, but that doesn't mean they don't weigh it if I don't see that i my t&t..

Some advice/help would be appreciated! (:

Given you (seemingly) weren't home when the package arrived, why didn't you use the DNA?

Internal records are kept of weights & dimensions, which (In this case) Is not listed on your end.

What's their precise weight?

I told them my mother received the package, so no DNA. Weight is 400 grams (~0,881849 lbs).

Understood, I wasn't aware of It prior to my previous post.

It's too heavy for the missing Item method.

It may work If they don't follow protocol, but It wouldn't surprise me If their Investigation deems It delivered.

I think I'll let them know that we found the shoes and it was a misunderstanding. Will that leave any question marks for them or is that a normal thing to do? I think saying nothing at all would be strange, though...

The SE may well work, but there's every possibility that It won't. If It were Nike, I'd say to go right ahead with It- they don't seem to check weights on consignments.

In answer to your question, as far as you're concerned, a family member took the shoes without your knowledge and later told you about the delivery. It's perfectly fine to say something along those lines. In fact, the company will appreciate your honesty.

In my opinion for 80 euros you should sign it. Its way too low of an amount for them to pursuit you.

I know the bad feeling you get when a SE attempt fails. That's why I'm recommending that you do it.
