As for inactive usernames, I believe you can just request a staff to make it available.

unfortunately we cannot do that. We don't have that level of control

I don't see how is it bad to keep these members? Are they bothering you at all for some reason? Lol, I do really think that this is stupid, every forum has inactive members, HF has 3 million members and there's barely 1000 active, why don't you make such a thread there mate?

that'd be hilarious, someone do this
It's often the outcasts, the iconoclasts ... those who have the least to lose because they
don't have much in the first place, who feel the new currents and ride them the farthest.

RE: Purge the inactive members #14
I generally delete accounts with 0 posts every few months. We used to purge accounts with less than 5, as well.

There is a lot more then 1,000 active on HF, there is more like 1000 different members active every 10 minutes there considering they get about 500 active within 5 minutes constantly.

And all I can say to that about this is, this is Sinisterly not HF why follow the path of a drama/child filled forum like HF?.

And as I said above there is benefits to it all, its not a purge just for the hell of it it actually has a reason.

Some disagree and some agree with this. After all it is a suggestion and my personal opinion its not like @Oni has to do it, chances are it probably won't happen anyway but ehh.

Still though, HF doens't have 3 million active users, just like I said, why don't you make the thread there? Lol.
Anyways, here's your post and my response to it:
(09-17-2015, 12:12 AM)Fire Wrote: 1. Less resources used which results in faster speeds, a cleaner experience and more resources that can be used by active members.

2. Cleaner user base, not full of inactive people making the site look bigger then it is.

4. Free's up user names that new members may want.

5. Shows the true progress of the community instead of progress that was made on other forums that were merged.

6. Less possible new members turned away because the second they look at the members to posts ratio it makes the place look inactive.
1- Whether it's 36k or 30k nothing will change much really, the difference in speed will be in few milliseconds and no one cares about that.
2- This is vague because these inactive people where active once, who knows they could get back here again for some damn reason. Also, they did join this community and the Forum is proud of it, the forum is proud of the numbers, it got 36K members registered, whoever started this is proud of it and the people should know that this forum got/has active members and you can't let this go for silly reasons.
3- (you missed 3 apparently...)
4- Free up usernames? Oh come on, it's just a damn username and you can always come up with something that isn't taken if "your username" matters much.
5- Whether the forums were murged or not, the progress was made, this murge was a progress, this can't be denied. Also, these extra members didn't "all" just show up because of the murge, there was a lot of hard work put into this and you can't just sum up the community's progress in one line...
6- If people turns away because of this shit then let it be because they're dumb enough to do so and we don't want dumb fucks around here lol.

RE: Purge the inactive members #17
Honestly, I very much don't agree with this. This is saying you want to remove all old threads, as if the authors of the threads/posts are deleted, those posts and threads will be deleted, too, since there is nobody whom owns them, therefore making the forum less useful.

Why would I waste my time to rejoin a shitty forum that I had over 800 reputation on, with UB3R and 3,000 posts that I gave to my friend to give advice to?.

If you were or still are a member there you should know very well Jesse don't give a shit about his members all he cares about is that $$$$$ he has rolling in.

That would be why you don't purge them if they have X amount of posts. If you go to the members list and look at the last on the list there honestly is a shit ton with only 0, 5 or 10 posts.

In total purging all of those members it wouldn't add up to that much of a post loss. I am not talking about removing previous members which actually have progress on the forum that went inactive. I am talking about inactive members with very little to no progress at all.

I should of been more clear on that, my mistake.

RE: Purge the inactive members #19
I am going to close this thread as some people agree and some do not, Oni can make the choice and I may not like the choices but I will support them as a member of the community.

There were some good points replied back so I guess the best thing to do is look at it from both sides.

RE: Purge the inactive members #20
I'll be removing members with 0 posts now. As for removing people that have less than X posts, I probably won't. We'd do it if we were invitation only, but we aren't right now.

Thanks for the suggestion.

Edit: I removed accounts with 0 posts that have been registered at least 90 days. Wow, that's a lot!
