RE: Point-of-Sale Activation #91
still no luck for the RCA, just don't know which file to delete. Glad to know I can get in the tablet now. I have about 20 of these RCA store returns that are locked and its gonna be hard to sell them unless I can unlock them.

Has anyone had any luck with the M20 pocket projector? I have 2 of these little guys and cant use either. Purchased them with all the cables but no books or boxes. So i have the disa number but i dont know how to get the "testdisa" file as it will not show up when connected to the pc. Any pointers in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.

It's looking rough. I've been toying with the USB, but it appears no drivers actually install, so no way to communicate with the device to attempt to dump files..

RE: Point-of-Sale Activation #94
we buy and sell most everything and we got in a large lot of assorted items 15 of these miroir micro projectors not knowing at the time there would be this activation code needed and I went online to see what it was all about and I ended up here, learned a lot of what it is, I see some trying to find the secret to getting the code and not that I would sell any just give them away to friends and family still they are useless as is, has anyone since this last part of this thread found the relationship between the DiSa number and getting a code from that?. It seems as if some are so close to that point, how to convert that number to a code, Im sure the company uses a code generator thats all automatic, all the UPC numbers are the same so whats left that is different is that DiSa number unless the UPC is part of the equation? having to add it to the DiSa number to be able to generate the activation code?, these dont seem to have any file that can be viewed so all that is left are the UPC and the DiSa numbers
and I read every post Smile even searched to see if there were other threads concerning the same product .
Hoping for a positive reply

Update about the Nextbook series entirely:
WalMart has officially put the thick plastic box around Nextbooks on shelves, so no more snatch and grab tactics are possible. DiSa, the company responsible for the PIN lock, is going under very quickly, and I believe by mid-late 2018, early 2019 Nextbooks will be gone.
If you aren't paying for your Nextbooks and your local wally world doesn't have them under lock and key yet then I'd go borrow as many as you can before they do stick 'em behind the plastic wall.
These cheap Chinese plastic pieces of crap are on the way out and there's really no reason to concentrate on them anymore in my humble opinion.
Best SE tactic right now is to find as many bricked devices as you can get your hands on, buy a new Nextbook, switch the new one out for the brick, and return the box to the store.
I will no longer be working on these devices or releasing new ways to remove the PIN lock.
Good luck to you all, and please be careful

Here are the steps to install adb and Intel drivers, in the proper order:

The best way to to set up adb and fastboot in windows is to install it system wide. Here is an installer to do this that works well:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/sho....php?t=2588979
Install process for 15 sec adb:
1. Run it (Require administrator privileges)
2. Press Y/Yes to install ADB and Fastboot
3. Press Y/Yes to install ADB system-wide
4. Press N/No to skip installing Drivers
5. 15 seconds passed - finished!
6. Now install the Intel drivers listed above and here, again:
https://software.intel.com/en-us/and...ndroid-devices

Also download this.

Nextbook Ares 8A V2.1.5 Modified Boot Images And TWRP
https://androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=200912

Now Unlocking bootloader.
Boot up device with vol key down tell you get to the bootloader screen.

On your PC where you put the Nextbook Ares 8A V2.1.5 Modified Boot Images And TWRP files, Hold down shift and right click in the folder and open command window here. make sure you have unzipped the zip file. you can leave SuperSU zipped. When the command prompt opens.

Type

Code:
fastboot flashing unlock

then type in

Code:
adb reboot bootloader

When it reboots back to bootloader type this in

Code:
fastboot boot Ares8A_recovery_twrp.img

You should boot into TWRP recovery. It would be smart to use this time to use twrp to backup your boot, recovery and system to a sdcard.

After backup type this command in.

Code:
fastboot flash recovery Ares8A_recovery_twrp.img

After that finishes you should use twrp in advanced tab then file manager go to System then go to app in there you will Delete VUDUStartWizard

After that reboot and it may come up with verification failed screen then it will reboot and you will be all set to use you tablet. No activation mess.

YOU ROCK!!!! Looked everywhere for a solution. This was super simple and worked first try. PERFECT fix. Thank You!!!!!

Ive been reading this thread about cracking these activation codes from DiSa. I am happy to see so many great minds working towards pulling the rug out from under this egocentric security company- DiSa. Not to mention amazed at all the progress that has been made this far. I have a related, but slightly different issue. I have a handheld radio scanner from Walmart, brand- Whistler, model number: WS1010WP, UPC number: 523-034-0873, DiSa number: 1000113695. I've been trying everything I can to get past this activation code the unit requires to operate. However, there is no interface for me to get the disa test file or anything else to really break it down further. If anyone has any ideas I would really appreciate it. - thank you

Mine says /system/usr/share/zoneinfo
the only thing in there is a file called tzdata.
What have i done wrong? I Cant find VUDU anywhere... Not even a folder that says APP.

Recently acquired the Miroir M20. It was awesome reading this thread and the progress made. Now that the tablet crack is dealt with (solid work), if any of the big beautiful brains on here would be so kind as to dedicate a little time to this little projector it would be greaty appreciated. With the advent of this device I expect a surge of other new owners with the same issue. It would be a massive stroke for the multiple users here dealing with it and anyone else who gets jipped one way or another.
