huh ?

I can't really see anything getting better for those who buy hosting in Iceland with The Pirate Party.

Yes - It might sound appealing due to what is happening elsewhere with them, however in Iceland their main goals have absolutely nothing to do with hosting. They want to reestablish free health care, make the government more transparent, tackle corruption, get the public to be more directly involved with decisions.  Those are their main goals.

Not to mention, it is very unlikely that the pirate party will be in coalition government. The pirate party have openly admitted that they will not work with the independence party which got 29%. At least I think it is highly unlikely that they will have a chance at forming a coalition government without the independence party. Anyway, today and tomorrow is just for the leaders of every party to meet with the president. Will be interesting in the next few days.

Oh and, the pirate party have publicly stated that they do support of minority government of 3 other parties.

I think the hope would be that the PIrate Parties government would be more lenient and free-thinking towards policies concerning the internet (such as pirating, where the party got their name) ergo hosting.

I'm not sure you totally understand the policies of the Pirate Party. The pirate party isn't only a party in Iceland, it's a blanket term for parties similar to it throughout Europe. Generally, these are some of the Pirates Parties Policies

Quote:Common themes of the Pirate movement include:
Defend the freedom of expression, communication, education; respect the privacy of citizens and civil rights in general.
Defend the free flow of ideas, knowledge and culture.
Support politically the reform of copyright and patent laws.
Have a commitment to work collaboratively, and participate with maximum transparency.
Do not accept or espouse discrimination of ethnicity, origin, beliefs[citation needed] and gender.
Do not support actions that involve violence.
Use free software, free hardware, DIY and open protocols whenever possible.
Politically defend an open, participative and collaborative construction of any public policy.
Direct democracy
Open access
Open data

Regarding hosting, these are the points in the policy which are most helpful
Quote: Defend the freedom of expression, communication, education; respect the privacy of citizens and civil rights in general.
Defend the free flow of ideas, knowledge and culture.
Support politically the reform of copyright and patent laws.

What do these three points have to do with hosting? I think it's pretty self-explanatory. Freedom of expression/comm/education and privacy mean less government snooping of servers; Free flow of ideas/knowledge/culture --> I mean, I hope you can see how that applies to things like a forum

Copyright/patent laws? That's an important one; So much content is taken down these days because of bullshit copyright laws. I mean, just look at the trouble YouTubers are facing these days
Oh, also Open Data and Open Access. Those are important too....

Sure, health care and the other things you mentioned are part of their plan, too. Maybe, they are even at the forefront because those issues are more pressing than the other themes of the party. Nevertheless these points stand as themes of the pirate party. The hope is that with a Pirate Party in power, they are able to put into action some of these things in the near future.

I mean, the name is PIrate Party, derived from the modern day Pirate.....
