Perfume SE #1
Sooo I just ordered some perfume and was planning to try SE it using DNA. However when I picked up the parcel the DPD service took a picture and asked for my name before handing me the package.

So I think DNA is out of the question. However when I took the package there actually does appear to be blood on the package and some brown stuff? Really fucking nasty but how can I use this to my advantage?

Should I try broken glass method and buy an empty bottle of the same perfume and say it smashed? Or should I just go through customer support straight away with the legit issue of what appears to be blood on my package?

Could also try empty box method as the item itself weights around 25/30 grams according to Google.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

(the store is John Lewis)

First tackle the stain on the package, and say you're refusing to handle It due to COVID health concerns.

If need be, take a photo and email It to them. They may well approve a refund without requesting the return. If they don't, use the broken glass method by saying you carefully opened the package with gloves. They'll have your previous conversation/communication on file, of which the Inconsistency on the package justifies It was mishandled, hence the glass shattered In transit.

I suggest the broken glass method, I've come across beauty/fragrance supply stores that have refunded without pictures. Main thing I've noticed was that companies that provide specifically women's products are much more forgiving.

So with the holidays customer service has only now just got back to me. They are now saying that for me to get a refund I need to return the item.

So I think I might need to use the broken glass method. The issue I have is I will need to buy an empty bottom of the perfume and smash it to look like the item was damaged.

Is there anyway to go around this now? Do they usually require pictures for the broken glass method?

Either pictures, or In some cases, request the return.

Photoshop or use the corrupted file method with the former, and box them with the latter.

Hmm, okay thanks mothered, just reading on the corrupted file method, sounds interesting on your blog, however it very much seems a do or die method.I think I'll try the boxed method and hope for the best.

Will send it off in a few days.Just a quick question, the boxing method is when you send off a box with the same weight as the original item, but make it look like the box has been tampered with in transit correct?

Yes, that Is correct.

When reps strictly follow protocol, the corrupted file method takes a lot of persistence to get the job done. I've stated It on my blog - just so SE'ers are aware of what to expect.

Correct.

If the Item Is light enough to not register a weight, the box Is sent on Its own (nothing Inside). If It's rather heavy, you'd need to substitute (replace) the Item's weight. Dry Ice Is most commonly used.

Thank you for all the help mothered as always! Any secert tips on how to make the boxed method look as genuine as possible that the item has been tampered with in transit?

Thanks Smile
