Paying Staff 08-22-2015, 01:12 PM

Say for example you're wanting staff for a forum. Is it a good idea to pay them with real cash? Or should you continue hunting and hunting for someone to do it for free?
What do you do? What works out better in your opinion? Paid staff or staff that volunteer?

Paying something to moderate/adminstrate a forum without even liking the community is somewhat silly, though the dedicated and commited ones may be chosen without any fees and you can pay them if you wish whenever. Then I personally wouldn't mind.

It's stupid to pay for someone to be an Staff member. But paying an Developer is another thing.

Well it really just depends - If the forum is small and only has a limited amount of members and no stable income coming through then I would not be paying staff, but on the other hand if I had a forum that had a very good amount of members and a decent amount of income coming through from it then I would be paying staff based upon their work and effort put into the site.
