I wouldn't be surprised at such realistically at the rate that technology is and has progressed in a realistic manner.
Though building IM into the human mind would require far more mapping and understanding of the human brain and the neurological pathways that make up the human brain than what is currently available even with today's state of the art equipment.
You're literally speaking of a mechanism that would be required to be integrated into the human mind via Bio-mechanical means.
