U.S. Historic Censorship of Pikachu Manga #1
I quite like this article that looks back over 20 years of edits and changes made to The Electric Tale of Pikachu English version manga. Mostly it was just reducing the overt bustiness of the ladies and lengthening a few mini skirts. I feel like they took the censoring a bit too far. They completely wiped out any presence of a bust in many cases. Having bust-less females all over a manga could seen as a little strange, but it sure is funny to look at.

Code:
Over 20 years later, Japanese media critic Kimi Rito (author of The History of Hentai Manga) humorously highlighted the changes for Japanese speakers in a series of popular tweets. "When foreigners found out about this, it was funny how they made comments like, 'They were pulling the wool over our eyes!' But the funniest comments were, 'When you evolve, your boobs get bigger!' Only Pokémon... (laughs)"

Ah yes, a classic. You know, I find it kind of weird the extent of what was actually censored.

Like, I completely understand some of it, like the rocket grunt who was basically naked, save for few straps of fabric. But the girl who was fully clothed seems like a silly censorship to me, since the only thing they did was make her breasts smaller.

I will say, it is a bit silly that most of the female characters had larger sized busts to begin with, but if there's no suggestive imagery there, why does it matter in the first place? At the end of the day, it is a media that primarily targets a younger demographic, so it isn't entirely appropriate to have over the top inclusions of girls with little to no clothing, or over sexualized characters.

It is a bit odd to make them quite so sexy xD but it's like they wiped out any sense of gender at all lmfao.

Censoring should not be imposed in anime. Creators should also have social responsibility. To create appropriate contents only. .
